Thailand Adventure Seeing life from a different perspective
Travel can help you see life from a different angle.
Another day, another concern is the monotonous pattern of many people living in the UK today. Housing prices continue to rise, spending rises and Travel rings credit crunch the phrase "to our ears, you may feel that follow around a cloud black. The daily struggle can be daunting, but a recent trip to Thailand I did discover life from a different angle. I've learned to appreciate and find the value of things that had already been taken for granted.
Arriving at the train station ready to go to work is often experiment that could test the patience of many people. The shock of a sudden influx of people, it is clear that you take the shower morning did not wake up properly. The dream of being situated comfortably in bed quickly disturbed by the finding that the train is delayed blinking. Angry and with a gesture of going to the worker in the office and request a ticket to see the price of travel has risen again. It was not just the other week, the price has been raised?
Driving to work can not be easier than public transport. The car sits outside his house and soon finish breakfast and get your bag to remember that yesterday the light, the gasoline was Come As You became his path. Leaving home with a sigh, take the nearest station of the essence in finding that there was another price fuel. Following the coating next time I hope that fuel costs will be much less, to be quickly disappointed. Plus there is not anywhere cheaper and therefore the only option is to fill the tank and empty your wallet. The frustration built quickly, your bank balance is disturbingly low and the images of "final notice" bill approved by the head.
The continued growth of the concerns meet people every day can acount for many pessamistic prospects. The time is spent worrying that both the positive elements in life can not be completely ruled out. This is a great shame, because it can be difficult to recognize the extent that his life is full of negativity. In July 2007, I decided to take a month on my work schedule loaded to go to Thailand. It has always been a place I had wanted to visit other holiday and discover why so many people mentioned in this country as "the land of smiles." Determined not only have to look around the main tourist areas, I decided that for half of my trip, I would go to the poorest, most sites rural areas to live with a family of mountain tribes. My hope was to find ways that were far from the life he had become accustomed.
At the airport Bangkok, tired after a thirteen hour flight, wore a heavy backpack I headed toward the exit. Confused by the value of Thai baht, I have tried to develop the best offer for a taxi to my hotel. Upon reaching my destination, I paid the driver, only to realize after the indictment was significantly more expensive. Driven by adrenaline put my bag in my room and run on busy roads, walking in "tuk tuks" and visit the temples, not willing to waste time. This rhythm quick action Packed calendar has been the way my time was dedicated to the first two weeks of travel, visiting all the places that caught my attention in various guides.
When traveling from one place to another, I have met very different people, many places worldwide. All they had to own reason for coming to Thailand. There were those who were embarking on a journey of discovery back to your own home, others were not satisfied and a significant amount of which had come to the adventure. Clearly the travel experience with enthusiasm a lot of people and wondered how, or whether his experience would somehow change when they finally turn his private life.
At this stage of my trip, I was surprised at the idea of being on the other side the world and was fascinated by cultural differences, however, no way I I believe like many others I found. Things we see every day now were all part of another culture. As far as I could see that I was a mere tourist visit look around again with a little knowledge of how different people live for me. It is difficult to understand people who spoke of having his eyes open and whose life experiences had changed. While traveling in a group of diverse cultures to the majority of time, took time to realize we have discovered things home together and my English not prevent me from learning and adopting ways of different cultures.
Having had a busy tone and often chaotic two weeks in urban areas of Thailand including Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Chiang Mai, I was ready to walk into rural areas of Chiang Mai, to meet the families of the tribes of the hills I'd pick. The trip alone was an experience I will never forget. Led by a very fine guide, I went into the forest with few other travelers. We are facing steep followed by questioning and extremely hot temperature decreases. As forests and cleared land transformed into surrounding rice fields, I realized that we were entering the inhabited and soon saw a deal of wooden huts, nestled in the hills.
We followed the river until we came to the Hill Tribe village. My guide pointed to two small piles of wood huts, located close to each other. They were a short distance from the other houses in the village and surrounded by mud, that seems to cover parts of the lands that are not grass. I quickly realized that was where they were staying. A mixture of fear, excitement and intrigue came over me as the family slowly emerges from a black door in the hut. As we carefully climbed the stairs to greet them, they were greeted with big smiles. Two children ran, both under the age of five years, the use of tattered clothes and without shoes. My eyes scanned the room and suddenly I realized the whole family lived in this room simple.
The family is not able to speak English, but eagerly sign for us that could remain in the cabin next door. As we have redirected the stairs our new house, I saw that my bed was the bamboo floor and my blanket, a mosquito net. For the first time on the trip I felt alone and certainly a little scary in my new situation.
It was dusk and the room seemed dark. For a moment I wondered what he was doing there. Think about the house in my mind rays and first time I felt home sick. However, it was immediately put at ease when I realized that Thai family did everything possible to make us feel comfortable. The whole family working together to meet and greet us, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
After being alone for most of an hour to unpack, bathe in the river and relax I quickly realized that a range of tempting aromas from the family cabin. Very curious, I went to the balcony man climbed the stairs to our cabin with a large steam pot size. Monitoring of the Virgin up the implementation of the bowls containing food for all different colors. Even the children helped with a bowl at a time. It showed how this family has created a range of dishes especially for us with such enthusiasm. I could not believe that all the food arrived, there were all kinds of vegetables, including potatoes, carrots and pumpkins – all of which developed into the curry.
The people of the hill tribe lived in shacks, do not wear shoes and bathed in the river, however, despite all this, always smiling. Not only conform to live in a small space at all, but good enough to allow visitors into their lives and were happy to share what they had. After dinner, children danced and sang to distract us and taught us these songs in exchange.
Staying in this environment made me realize for the first time during my trip I could draw lessons valuable in this very different culture. Life in England is often spent worrying about financial problems, when more time should be spent with family or friends. The Highlanders appear to place great emphasis on family unity and to enjoy spending so much time together as possible, which can be a rarity in such high speed of British society. The tribes are not a luxury as we know in the UK. For example, I saw a car in town and was being repaired. However, I meet all the world I received warmly with a big smile.
This part of my journey, no doubt, I learned that we must appreciate what we have. We face the daily struggles, however, for most British citizens of hot water and electricity are readily available and used without evaluation. Can we be ruled by negativity when our supermarkets are filled with a variety of food and our beds are comfortable and warm? More attention should be placed in the nice parts of life and we must recognize that some people lack basic services we take for granted.
