backpack, budget tips and advice?

I want to go with a backpack and a visit to France (Paris and Marseilles) Netherlands (Amsterdam) also Thailand and Australia (working holiday program for the second), because of my low budget theres no way I will make a trip there will be two trips with big savings and return to work between local time. I would like to know some tips for saving money and what is the lowest budget of people have managed to make some decent travel?
