Where can I get useful information about travel in Japan?

I intend to travel to Thailand on 25 and will be in Japan during the 5 days. They said the visit and travel around in Shinjuku Shinkansen to keep my expenses. Specifically, I am looking for a guide or a site that can help to get the best from my experience (Everything in the hotel to stay, how to travel, where to travel with my families in the top 50). I've never been tot country and I do not speak the language, but if anyone can provide any help, I would greatly appreciate it.
