Where is the cheapest place to get the money before traveling?

I'm leaving tomorrow to Thailand Australia. It should: a) Go to my bank, b) Go to a currency exchange in the city c) Towards a currency exchange at the airport; d) The exchange of U.S. dollars Travel Checks (former I have in home) to one of the sites mentioned above e) wait until you get to the airport from Bangkok and withdraw money with my MasterCard?

I always thought it was better to change the currency in the country you intend to stay. Commissions taken by the branches are heavy to say the least. So, unless you pay for something when you arrive, simply Change your money when you get to Bangkok. Enjoy the journey!
